What are leisure and fun for British and Japanese people?

Hello everyone! Welcome back to my blog. In this blog, I will introduce how to enjoy and spend leisure time in England and Japan. What do you usually do in your leisure time? Take a look at this blog to find new ways to spend your leisure time.

🇬🇧 In Britain 🇬🇧

First of all, I would like to talk about how British people spend their leisure time.

◎Go to the park◎

There are so many parks in Britain. People do a lot of things there. For example, walking, jogging, yoga, Pilates, etc., each person has their own way of spending time in the park. Of course, not only people who are exercising, but also people who are talking with friends or lying on the grass. Also, it seems that many people have picnics. Bring their own sandwiches or buy them at a nearby supermarket and enjoy. There are many families, and the park is very busy on holidays.

◎Holding a party◎

In Britain, even if it’s not a special event or birthday, you can get together with friends and have a party. They also have a barbecue. They sometimes enjoys drinking alcohol from noon and talking with his friends until night. Of course, going to pubs is also popular. It seems that British people often enjoy talking with friends while drinking alcohol.

◎Go to museums◎

There are many museums and galleries in Britain. That’s why British people often visit museums and galleries. There are also free national museums and galleries in mainland England! Of course, it is also a famous museum such as the British Museum. All museums and galleries are fascinating. The British Museum is said to take three days to see the entire facility. It may be difficult to visit many museums and galleries in one day, so it may be a good idea to visit different places every week.

🇯🇵 In Japan 🇯🇵

Next, I will talk about how to spend leisure time in Japan.

◎Spend at home◎

Many Japanese seem to spend their leisure time at home. For example, watching TV, watching a movie, reading a book, rumbling, and so on. According to a 2018 survey*, 20% of Japanese are active, while more than 50% are relaxed. Also, many people want to use their leisure time to rest their mind and body, so it seems that many Japanese people spend their leisure time at home like this. *Japanese survey in 2018 https://myel.myvoice.jp/products/detail.php?product_id=24412

◎Go shopping◎

After spending time at home, the most popular way to spend leisure time with Japanese people is to go shopping. Go shopping at shopping malls and outlet parks. I also go to cafes and eat out in between. However, it seems that online shopping is increasing due to the influence of the coronavirus. If the coronavirus goes down, more active Japanese may increase.

🌼 Conclusion 🌼

As you can see from this blog, it seems that the way of spending leisure time is a little different between England and Japan. Of course, there are some parts where British and Japanese spend their leisure time in the same way. However British seem to be more active than the Japanese.

Was there a way to spend your leisure time in this? Did it look like Britain or Japan? I prefer to go shopping and go to different places in my leisure time rather than staying at home, so it may be a British way of spending. I can’t go out a lot now because of the coronavirus, but when it’s over, I’d like to go to more places.
