Hello, everyone!! Welcome back to my blog. Today I would like to talk about British holidays and Christmas. Also I will compare the way these events are spent with the Japanese.
🏖Holidays🎃
There are various holidays in Britain. In addition to Christmas, Easter, New Year’s Day, and Halloween, which everyone knows, there are also holidays that are unique to Britain, such as Bank Holiday and Pancake Day. So I will talk about Easter.
🐰Easter🐣

Easter is the Easter of Jesus Christ. It is said to be the most important day of the year for Christians. It is also said to have the meaning of celebrating the arrival of spring as well as Easter. Easter days are not fixed and are different every year. Because we celebrate on the Sunday after the first full moon, after the vernal equinox day. 2021 Easter will be Sunday, April 4th. Many people spend their Easter holidays, including Easter, as follows: Participate in church mass, Prohibit intake of meat, dairy products, bread, etc. until Easter Day, Eat meat and dairy dishes on Sundays. People basically spend time with their family and relatives. Everyone will decorate the eggs and rabbits that symbolize Easter, children will be given chocolate in the shape of eggs, and they will look for hidden Easter eggs.

In Japan, it seems less familiar than Halloween or Christmas. However, at Disney Resort and Universal Studios Japan, events are held during Easter. Characters are Easter-style, souvenirs and goods are in the shape of eggs, and rabbits and chicks are used.
🎄Christmas🎁

On Christmas day in Britain, families and relatives get together and spend a relaxing time eating. Almost all shops, public transport and tourist spots are closed on Christmas Day. In a typical British family with children, wait for Christmas using the “Advent Calendar”, a calendar for counting the deadlines until Christmas. There are 25 “windows” on the calendar, and children open the “windows” on the calendar every day and look forward to the period until Christmas. British people generally have a habit of sending Christmas cards to friends, colleagues and acquaintances on Christmas day. This seems to be similar to the custom of sending Japanese New Year’s cards.

In Japan, of course, some people spend time with their families, but many also spend time with their boyfriend or girlfriend and friends. The British people spend their time at home with their families, while the Japanese go out to eat and see the illuminations. I also went out to eat with my friends on Christmas Eve. I had a friend who was working part-time on Christmas day. I’m sure this is unthinkable in England.
🌼Conclusion🌼
You can see that there are different ways of spending the same holiday in Britain and Japan. Many holidays such as overseas such as England have permeated Japan. The way of spending is different, but there are different ways to enjoy it, and I think it’s good.
